The Eight of Wands as depicted in the Rider-Waite deck is an image of wands (representing firey action) sailing through the air (thought and abstraction) far above a quiet landscape. This card is a pause for reflection and planning; it can be linked with the seventh "circuit" of Timothy Leary's psychological model, the meta-programming circuit that decides how to apply and reconfigure the other circuits. Someone expressing this energy may be pausing for reflection, planning out what form of action to take next. But this is still a card of action: the next move will come, and soon, as soon as the goal and the method to achieve it are chosen.
